AS I See It

Look Up

I’m not an astrophotographer, but I like to challenge myself to photograph subjects outside of my comfort zone. Capturing the milky way has been on my project list for awhile, with the many celestial events scheduled to take place in August, it provided the impetus to start my Look Up project.

With some of the planets being at their closest to the earth, allowing them to be seen with a pair of binoculars. Meteor showers, super moons and that rare event a blue moon. I was quietly excited at the thought of capturing an image or two for my wall, Despite the planning and willingness to get out and look up, the weather didn't play ball!

However all was not lost, I did manage to get down to Beachy head to see the Milky way and while I was unable to see the first super moon, at the start of the month. The second one came into view as the clouds cleared to reveal a beautiful super moon to close out the month.

It’s a shame we have to go so far outside of London to see the stars (the celestial ones 😀).

But on a clear night it's worth the trip, there's just so many of them. It is truly a wondrous sight!

Due to the formatting restrictions, on the social media platforms I can't display the entire image. If you would like to experience the milky way image in its entirety please visit my website. https://www.fedwards.co.uk/gallery#&gid=Landscapes&pid=4 and while you are there please check out some of my other images.
